SHEET FILM

Sarah (Allysson Paradise) is a young photographer, arrived last month of pregnancy, whose life was suddenly turned upside down, a few months before from an automobile accident (which she caused), in which her husband was killed.

the evening of Christmas Eve, and is shocked by the riots in Paris suburbs, Sarah chooses to spend the night alone in his great (and isolated) house.
Suddenly, a woman knocks on his door, claiming to have the car failed. Just want to make a phone call and then go away. Not trusting, Sarah decides not to open them. The mysterious woman will not give up, and showed perfectly know some details of his past ...

Maury and Bustillo's film, presented in Cannes in 2007 (the jury left the room in the middle projection, because of the shocking scenes of violence!), belongs in the recent French horror-slasher genre, whose parent is "High Voltage" by Alexandre Aja and continued with "Frontière ( s) "by Xavier Gens. Awarded to Catalonian International Film Festival best fantasy film, "A l'interieur" is a film (also all women, such as Aja) reaching peaks of violence hardly bearable (other than those cacatine "torture porn" as "Saw" and "Hostel"!) pinch because, inevitably, the most sensitive strings present in all of us (the birth and survival of the unborn child, compromised or threatened by an external factor).

The plot, itself, has little of the original: the theme of the siege around a familiar place, whose appearance is disrupted by domestic violence brought by the element outside, has been used in countless horror films and thrillers. Moreover, the true identity of the mysterious woman (and reasons), played by a beautiful and phenomenal Beatrice Dalle, are obvious after a few minutes, even by the spectator and novices.
What, then, the peculiarities of this film? They reside primarily in having inserted within a framework abused, an effective method for engaging the viewer, represented by the presence of the child within the placenta which, witness with his mother (and us) the horrors of this bloody eve Christmas (and references to the birth of Christ a kind of blasphemy are all there, including three kings), becomes the true protagonist of the film.

The special effects in this film, then, is to be found mostly in a daring attempt reformulation of a genre, the horror, which now seems to seek new paths in only a certain kind of European and Asian cinema.
Without forgetting, of course, the element splatter where the rate is always kept at high levels, turning the film into a real festival granguignolesco. Nothing, in fact, we are saved: in the eye pins, scissors, burned faces, a tracheotomy autopraticata with a knitting needle, until the bloody final scene, so unbearable (at least for my sensibilities) bonds, for the first time in many years, close your eyes while watching a horror ...
only flaw: the AC voltage, in the first part, a difficulty bit 'to take off the film and a sequence (the late) frankly useless, offering a supernatural tinge, irrelevant to the rest of the film.

"A l'interieur" is a classic film to show to his girlfriend / partner / wife, especially if you are pregnant ...

(obviously, if you bother just a finger in the navel, this is not the film for you).

MEISTER STEINER SAYS: 7.5
